The use of untested aconite of any kind is strongly discouraged.
Quality
Quality:
The only meaningful quality criterion for this herb is its aconitine content, which requires an analytical assay. Only this will show whether teh herb has been appropriately processed. While there is some controversy, to be prudent, quantitative results by HPLC method are a maximum aconitine content of 20mg/kg. If the aconitine content is higher than this, it can be dangerous.
