Greetings, my name is Camila, I am an instructor of
Mountaineering and all kinds of mountain sports. Mountain
sports are those activities that are practiced in an
environment with special climatic and physical characteristics
such as the mountains. These activities can be practiced as a
competition at a professional level or as a recreation and
connection with nature. Mountain sports are becoming
increasingly popular. Millions of people of any age around the
world practice at least one of the activities. One of the most
recognized mountain sports is mountaineering. Mountaineering
consists of making summits or conquering the tops of the
different mountains or hills that surround us by making the
appropriate excursion that takes us to the top. Other popular
mountain sports are derived from this discipline, such as
canyoning, which consists of descending the water currents in
the deep ravines of the mountains. These currents are
generally of smaller volume but with pronounced slopes. Hiking
is a non-competitive sport practiced by many nature lovers. It
consists of walking along marked paths, preferably traditional
ones, through the mountainous landscape. A similar sport to
hiking is excursionism, which consists of walking through
isolated landscapes with difficulties. Hiking and trekking not
only serve to maintain a good physical shape, but also
mentally by connecting with nature. These activities can last
a few hours or even days combined with camping. Another
important mountain sport is climbing, which can be done both
on rock and on a climbing wall. It consists of making ascents
in rock walls or in walls equipped for the practice of this
sport. Climbing is considered as such, only when climbing is
impossible using only the legs. It is a very popular activity,
although dangerous, so it requires safety measures and the use
of special equipment.
