Hi, I'm Cindy Malks, I'm an agricultural engineer, part of a
company that develops irrigation technologies. Agricultural
engineers solve problems in agriculture, including those
related to machinery, storage and processing of agricultural
products, and environmental issues. Agricultural engineers
improve processes related to the production of agricultural
goods and the management of natural resources. They design
agricultural machinery, equipment, sensors, processes and
structures and work on projects ranging from the development
of climate control systems for livestock to the integration of
artificial intelligence in agriculture. Agricultural engineers
work in a variety of environments. Although they may spend
some time in offices, they spend a significant amount of time
in workplaces. Many work outdoors, so time can affect their
schedules. They work longer hours when the weather is good
because they will not have that opportunity when the weather
becomes inclement.
