Profile:
Matthew D Bauer became interested in acupressure and acupuncture after suffering a back injury at age 17. He studied acupressure briefly with Shiatsu Master Wataru Ohashi and then became a student of 74th generation Taoist Master Hua-Ching Ni, studying Taoist history, philosophy and history. He opened his Chinese medicine practice as soon as he was licensed in 1986 with a wife, a newborn baby and a handicapped 9 year old to support. While struggling to build his practice, he also worked with acupuncture organizations and eventually as a consultant with the insurance industry as part of his passion to make Chinese medicine more understandable and available to the public. Matthew spent several years researching issues related to the roots of acupuncture and Chinese medicine theory and authored '"The Healing Power of Acupressure and Acupuncture"', a book that offers detailed theories on how acupuncture and Chinese medicine theory first began. After devoting years to public education, Matthew now looks forward to teaching Chinese medicine practitioners how to be successful with their patients and in their practices.
